Query the Data from an HCM Personnel Root Record
A complicated role construct
Trace after missing permissions: Run the System Trace for Permissions (ST01 or STAUTHTRACE transaction) to record permission checks that you want to include in the role (see Tip 31, "Optimise Trace Evaluation"). Applications are logged through the Launch Permissions checks.

The high manual maintenance effort of derived roles during organisational changes bothers you? Use the variants presented in this tip for mass maintenance of role derivations. Especially in large companies, it often happens that a worldwide, integrated ERP system is used, for example, for accounting, distribution or purchasing. You will then have to limit access to the various departments, for example to the appropriate booking groups, sales organisations or purchasing organisations. In the permission environment, you can work with reference roles and role derivations in such cases. This reduces your administrative overhead for maintaining functional permissions and reduces the maintenance effort for role derivations to adapt the so-called organisational fields. However, maintaining the organisational fields can mean enormous manual work for you, as the number of role derivations can become very large. For example, if your company has 100 sales organisations and 20 sales roles, you already have 2,000 role outlets. Here we present possible approaches to reduce this manual effort.
Set Configuration Validation
With the help of the SAP-Note 1642106 it is possible to automatically perform the text comparison from SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP 7.0. Inserting the note will automatically perform text matching for any changes to PFCG roles in the central system. We recommend that you install the support package that is appropriate for your release, which is specified in the SAP Note, because inserting the hint requires a lot of manual work. With the help of the SUSR_ZBV_GET_RECEIVER_PROFILES report, you can turn on the new functionality in all subsidiary systems where the correction information has also been recorded. If you run the report in the central system with the default selection, all subsidiary systems are included. You can check whether the function is present in the daughter systems in the report log.

The next step is to maintain the permission values. Here, too, you can take advantage of the values of the permission trace. When you switch from the Role menu to the Permissions tab, you will generate startup permissions for all applications on the Role menu and display default permissions from the permissions suggestions. You can now add these suggested values to the trace data by clicking the button trace in the Button bar. First, select the authorization object that you want to maintain. There can be multiple permissions for each authorization object. Then load the trace data by clicking the Evaluate Trace button. A new window will open again, where you can set the evaluation criteria for the trace and limit the filter for applications either to applications in the menu or to all applications. Once the trace has been evaluated, you will be presented with all checked permission values for the selected authorization object. With the Apply button, you can now take the values line by line, column by column, or field by field.

During go-live, the assignment of necessary authorizations is particularly time-critical. The "Shortcut for SAP systems" application provides functions for this purpose, so that the go-live does not get bogged down because of missing authorizations.

Define (if necessary, only in detail in accounting, otherwise at the level of applications) which functions must necessarily remain separate.

So much information... how can you keep it so that you can find it again when you need it? That's what Scribble Papers is great for.

By correcting SAP Note 1692243, you can now also use the report in a ZBV (Central User Management) environment; It is no longer limited to individual clients.
