SAP Basis is responsible for the smooth operation of programs in the SAP system. It acts like an operating system for R/3 and subsequent releases including S/4HANA. Every operating system provides an environment in which programs can run, such as MS Office on Microsoft Windows. In the same way, the SAP Basis system with the NetWeaver and HANA platforms provides an environment in which SAP programs can run. In this context, the NetWeaver platform itself relies on server operating systems such as Windows and Linux.

Soft skills also play an important role in this profession. In everyday life, communication skills are in demand, because SAP administrators are often in close contact with customers and have to respond to their wishes and questions. They also need to be able to work in a structured manner and find creative solutions and decisions. In order not to lose touch, continuous training in this area is advisable.

Inheritance Hierarchy with Master Roles and Associated Roles If you have created multiple derived roles, a simple overview of all "related" roles can be convenient. To do this, call any derived role, or the master role, and then click the "Inheritance Hierarchy" button. You will now get a detailed overview of which roles are assigned to which master role.

For administrators, a useful product - "Shortcut for SAP Systems" - is available in the SAP basis area.

When looking at the result, in addition to limiting the number of transactions that can be entered, another drawback of this variant becomes apparent: Although both associated roles are displayed, at first glance it is not possible to see which transaction is contained in which role.

Although the strategic aspects of Basis have become extremely complex (as we will discuss later), running Basis is much easier than with previous generations of software.

So much information... how can you keep it so that you can find it again when you need it? Scribble Papers is a "note box" that makes this very easy.
